Lost and Found
If you think you have left an item in a vehicle, there are some steps you can take. HOURCAR is not responsible for lost or abandoned items. We do our best to help out, but the best case scenario is for you to collect all of your items before ending your trip.
Check the Vehicle Yourself
This action will be quicker than having our staff check the vehicle.
In an HOURCAR, if your reservation is still active, you may be able to open the vehicle with the app or GoTo card. If your reservation has ended, make a 30-minute reservation to retrieve your item.
In an Evie, if you are still near the vehicle, simply re-book it to search for your missing item.
Refunds for Lost and Found Trips
If you have reserved any of our vehicles to search for a lost item, our staff can reimburse you for up to 30 minutes of trip costs in the form of driving credits. This only applies if the trip is explicitly being used for lost and found purposes, we cannot give credits for other trip use.
Please email us at info@hourcar.org or contact us during office hours for a refund to your account, and be sure to include the trip information for our team.
Working with HOURCAR Staff to Search an Evie
If you are no longer near your Evie and cannot locate it on the app, please reach out to our Member Services team. We are able to hold the vehicles for 1-2 hours with proper communications with our staff.
Alternatively, we can send our fleet team to search for the item for you.
Holding Lockers at HOURCAR Offices
If our staff has retrieved an item for you, they will bring it to the HOURCAR offices to be placed in a secure locker. You will receive specific email instructions when our Member Services team has confirmed placement.
Our office building is located at 755 Prior Ave N in St. Paul, a 15 minute walk from the Fairview and University green line stop.
Unclaimed Lost and Found
Any items that our fleet team locates in the course of their day gets taken to our offices and held for 90 days in a secure location. After 90 days, in accordance with federal law, any unclaimed items are considered abandoned and will be donated, disposed of, or recycled. Hazardous materials or materials that expire before 90 days will be disposed of immediately.
If you think you have lost something in one of our vehicles, please send an email to info@hourcar.org and we will see if we can locate it. Helpful information to include is your date and time of trip, the vehicle you were in, and where you think the item might have been in the vehicle.
Reporting Another Member's Lost Item
If you have located someone else's item, please fill out this form to report it to our team! We will then be able to pick it up and hold it for safekeeping.
In an HOURCAR, items may also be relocated to the glovebox for safekeeping, so that the original owner can retrieve them with a short reservation.
