What To Do In a Crash
If you’re in a crash:
At the Scene
- Call 911 if there is an injury or debris blocking the road.
- Share proof of insurance in a safe location.
- The State of Minnesota allows for insurance cards to be shown digitally, in addition to the paper copy located in the glovebox. All drivers are required by Minnesota law to be insured and proof of insurance is required by all parties.
- If you are reporting a hit and run, and you did not witness the crash, please state so in the description field.
- Contact Member Services at 612.343.2277 for how to proceed. We will help you compile information and instruct you on how to submit it.
- Gather all data and submit information on this page or via email, in coordination with Member Services staff.
- You must get confirmation from Member Services before resuming your trip. Our staff will tell you if it is safe to continue driving.
Next Steps
The Member Services team and our Insurance team need to examine the information submitted. As part of this, your account will be temporarily suspended for review of the information. This is a normal part of our process and does not reflect on your driving behavior in any way.
Contacting us as soon as you are safe and have exchanged information with the other drivers will allow us to expedite this process. Your account will quickly return to good standing as long as you continue to communicate with us about any further details we need for our insurance.
If HOURCAR determines that unsafe driving behavior contributed to a crash, you will be assessed a $250 Unsafe Driving Damage Fee. Examples of unsafe driving behavior include, but are not limited to, excessive speed driving while using a handheld device, and aggressive driving.
